about

Dust is an emotional track taking you deeper into a solemn state that many of us encounter at times in our lives. Depression is gnarly and when you're hit with it, it's tough to shake.

The main sample is from "Dust in the Wind" by 70's rock band Kansas. That song always had a mood that it put you in as you listened to it, a kind of nostalgia that left you feeling alone. I kept that approach with this re:production. The drums I chopped from Bobbi Humphrey's "Jasper Country Man which have a whole other nostalgia completely irrelevant to this track...for another day.

At the end you'll hear what I call the elevator interlude which I use a couple times on the album to separate the moods between the collections of songs. The first interlude was after "f r: esh Produce" and before "Walk on By" which led into the next 2 deeper tracks and book ended by "Dust".

Enjoy.

lyrics

HOOK:

I close my eyes and open my soul
Spread my wings and hope to fly but I
Fold my arms eyes fixed on the sidewalk
Defeat repeats heart beats in a tight not

> I might not always stay on course
Cause I’m side winding unnecessary negative force
> I might shock the world one day
> stay tuned as I fade away to gray

I’m saving daylight with forward movement
On with the groove move towards improvement
I’m battered weathered weak from the storm
Bound to the earth humbled by the norm

> I may fall but I will not break
Skin may tear and I will make mistakes
> My take is that I meet fate
I will swear by my left while my right hand hates

> I wait for no man to move
On with the groove illuminating in the view
> You prove that you will never change
Everyday same thing every day’s the same

> I blame no one but me
Falling victim to my identity
> I see not but not eye level
Out of range changed high off the treble

HOOK

Say what you say embed it in my head
Short term memory low in this head of dreads
> Mostly to shed away things I’m bothered by
Times I suppress like biological father I

Don’t push feelings to the back with a purpose
They find the first path on my sleeve on my surface
> If you could understand I’m trying to do the best I can
I’m trying to close the curtains on the stage of my circus

> I write a verse for myself to move
On with the groove illuminating in the view
> Still I prove that I will never change
Everyday same thing every day’s the same

> I blame no one but me
Falling victim to my identity
> I see not but not eye level
Out of range changed I am not the rebel

HOOK

How may I beat my pulse now I’m flying at half mast
Frayed at the edges flapping at winds pass
Too fast I stand still circles move around me
Eyes wet mouth dry just short of boundary

> I’m on the outside searching for my inner
My spirit my soul my life control
From within my skin daily my blood gets thinner
My body too weak I’m to beat and too cold

I close my eyes and open my soul
Spread my wings and hope to fly but I
Fold my arms staring at the sidewalk
Focus on the pain in my chest with a bright thought

> I might not always stay on course
Cause I’m side winding unnecessary negative force
> I might rock the world one day
> stay tuned as I pave the way

about

peoplemover San Diego, California

Peoplemover, once just a side project of thirdy3rd, has now become a primary focus with a higher influence than just music.

While thirdy3rd is known for their unprecedented, futuristic digital, fast pace, electro hip hop sound, peoplemover can easily be classified as a close relative, yet formed of an organic and hifi analog complexity, fueled by fossil nostalgia of new and old grooves.
