about

This track, originally released on the peoplemover ep, is one of my all time favorites featuring the main sample from Bobby Womack "Across 110th street". Of course our content has nothing to do with the original content of the song or film nor Jackie Brown but the song is such a classic that I love to listen to so I had to sample it. It's just what I do, don't be mad, enjoy.

In addition to Womack, I also sampled the instrumental version by J. J. Johnson And His Orchestra, a completely different vision of the song and mashed the 2 together, chopping, dicing, slicing and re:producing a re:mix of the 2 versions.

The fun thing about making this song is that every layer of sound minus the kick and snare was created by using bits and pieces of the 2 versions where the obvious sample is the soul of the song but all the bones, skin, teeth, all the little elements that hold the soul within, the stuff you can't hear really make this track what it is.

This track, also from 2006, features Beligerent Flows who kills it over the horn section and takes this song to another level. The wordplay pays respect to the golden age and the concept is really about taking the old and making it new again and remains the concept for re:produce holistically.

Today, 12.20.12 is documented as the last day before the earth dies according to the Mayan calendar so once again, enjoy.

lyrics

Fresh produce in cassette decks fresh
Pump up the volume amplify def
Water the plantlife electrified flesh
Pressure in the blood high breathe fresh

High definition full blown with fidelity
Ear drums blown and we’re def with the melody
Definite hype definitely with the mic
Def with the record and the drum beats go like

Peoplemover, once just a side project of thirdy3rd, has now become a primary focus with a higher influence than just music.

While thirdy3rd is known for their unprecedented, futuristic digital, fast pace, electro hip hop sound, peoplemover can easily be classified as a close relative, yet formed of an organic and hifi analog complexity, fueled by fossil nostalgia of new and old grooves.
