writers block

from re:produce by mattr.

about

This is the second to last track on re:produce and at this point, it's coming full circle as I sample some of our older music from thirdy3rd, "minds in motion" off of the electric plantlife album, produced by relix knowmad. The original was so sick as is and even features cuts by dj B.O.S...those were the days.

To have writers block is one of the most painful stretches that any artist can live through when your true outlet of expression fails you or is failed by you. This is true for any artist or any creative way of living. It's a snowball effect and it only worsens as you get deeper towards the bottle neck and can't find the release.

But sooner or later when your mind clicks and those thought patterns that feed your hunger re:align, it's like all that time spent in the block is magnified by a greater version of your mind just before you hit the wall. Everything becomes so clear and fresh and super and ultimately unstoppable. In effect, writers block is a healthy experience that helps you dig within and re:discover what has gone astray and you gain strength as if you've gone through a mental cross fit session and the outcome is evident in your practice. Once again, minds in motion.

Enough babble, enjoy the song.

lyrics

I just need to write let the program
Compose of my thoughts reflect of no man
Complex of my simple mind of my clutter
Gazin’ closed windows of my shutter

I just need to write need to clear head
Those of my nature bleed till near dead
Believe what fear said fight or flight now
Relieved to hear meds in sight and right now

I just need to write read and let go
Ready set go release and let go
If it returns then it was meant to learn
And teach my heart how it feels to burn

I just need to write let the program
Compose of my thoughts reflect of no man
Complex of my simple mind of my clutter
Gazin’ closed windows of my shutter

I just need to write organize pain
Repair of my tracks of thought for my train
If not for my brain at least for my act
I’ve got to retain some piece of my fact

I just need to write unblock the road
Unlock the mind one come rock the show
Walk the ledge of know to the beat of my drum
Talk to let em know that my freedom is one

about

peoplemover San Diego, California

Peoplemover, once just a side project of thirdy3rd, has now become a primary focus with a higher influence than just music.

While thirdy3rd is known for their unprecedented, futuristic digital, fast pace, electro hip hop sound, peoplemover can easily be classified as a close relative, yet formed of an organic and hifi analog complexity, fueled by fossil nostalgia of new and old grooves.
